SU's School of Nursing Earns $142K MHEC Grant to Redesign RN to M.S.N. Program

By SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---富二代视频app University’s School of Nursing recently received a $142,764 grant from the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) and Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) Nurse Support Program-II.

The two-year grant will fund the planning and redesign of SU’s RN-M.S.N. program.

“The School of Nursing is honored to receive this grant, which will boost collaborative efforts with area colleges and health care organizations to update the program to meet the needs of registered nurses who provide leadership, education and holistic care in complex environments,” said Dr. Annette Barnes, graduate program director and associate professor of nursing. “The grant will support a team of faculty to plan a robust and relevant curriculum that prepares registered nurses and advanced-practice nurses to fulfill critical roles that promote health equity, healthy work environments and professional autonomy.”

The revised curriculum will provide a focus for leadership and nurse educator roles with streamlined entry and fast-track completion that meets current educational standards. Through internal collaboration and external partnerships, students in a traditional or second-degree baccalaureate program and working registered nurses with associate degrees will be able to obtain a graduate degree in less time with lower overall cost.
